Red Cross volunteer information update

Posted @ 7:06 PM

People who want to become Red Cross volunteers should go to the organization's volunteer processing center, at Horizon Christian Fellowship, 5531 Mt. Alifan Dr. in Clairemont. The center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Red Cross processed 1,700 volunteers Monday.

Monetary donations are needed. Donations may be made through the Red Cross web site, at www.redcross.org <http://www.redcross.org/>, or by calling (800) RED-CROSS.

The Horizon Christian Fellowship website says they are no longer taking volunteers. Anyone know of other places accepting volunteers???

I really wish they would have had Red Cross disaster training in North County. On the one hand we had the urgent updates asking us to stay off the roads in order to keep them open for emergency vehicles only, and on the other hand we had the Red Cross telling us to drive down to Clairemont for disaster training. I think it would have made sense to have had training in North County, mid-town, and South Bay so many of us wouldn't have had to be on the roads as much, or have to drive through any possible evacuated areas.

I agree. The conflicting info is confusing. I missed the training sessions today and have been checking to see where I can volunteer. Can anybody clear up the puzzling info? Where can I help out?

should we try specific evacuation centers? or still go to horizon?

I wish it was more clear...I have a group of 30 that want to help out.
